Resounding Success in the First Edition of the Barcelona International Young Artists Competition (BIYAC)

The Barcelona International Young Artists Competition (BIYAC) is proud to announce the closing of its registration process for the inaugural edition, with an impressive total of 66 applications from around the world. This competition, set to take place in December 2024, has attracted young talents from China, Korea, Russia, Australia, the United States, and, of course, Spain.

The level of the participants has exceeded all expectations. In its first edition, the talent on display is incredible, overwhelming, and unimaginable, making this competition an international event of the highest caliber. These young artists, true gems of classical music, will travel to Barcelona to compete in the live rounds, showcasing their musical mastery and vying for international recognition.

Registration opens from 4 July until 30 September 2024

The Barcelona International Young Artists Competition will be accepting registrations for candidates aged 6 to 14 in violin and cello through the platform www.muvac.com. The registration period is from 4th of July until September 30, 2024, and invitations for the live competition in Barcelona will be sent out by October 15th, 2024. Register on time and submit your video by September 30th!

Our prizes

We are thrilled to announce an incredible array of prizes for our participants and winners. In addition to three monetary awards and the amazing opportunity to perform with the orchestra at the Gala concert for up to six candidates, we will be offering scholarship opportunities from the Shkolnikova Academy and Pireneo Junior Summer Camp. Other prizes include ¨Artist¨ violin and cello cases, Jargar strings, Eastmas Strings violin cases and cello bows, María Amorós musical vinyls, a voucher from Brotons and Mercadal editorial for purchasing scores, a monetary prize from the Cultural Foundation CdR for the best interpretation of a Russian or Soviet period work, and artisan WMutes bathed in gold. Additionally, participants will have the chance to gain direct access to the Final of the Estepona Competition and explore possible arrangements for future seasons with the Orchestra of Barcelona University.
